In 1986 Mr. Charlie Luman was hired at STA as a Science teacher and substance abuse prevention instructor. At the beginning of the 1987 school year, Mr. Luman took over the role of Physical Education Instructor and Athletic Director. Mr. Luman retired as A.D. in 2003 but continues to teach P. E. to grades K-8.  He also previously coached baseball for 4 years at Kapaun-Mt Carmel; however, most of his free coaching time is spent coaching his sons’ baseball teams.

Mr. Luman is a graduate of Hutchinson High School and of Fort Hays State University. He played baseball in college and was All-Conference and All-District as a pitcher.

Mr. Luman and his wife Lori have three children: Raymond, Aaron and Kevin.
