I was born in Hays, Kansas, and grew up on a dairy farm. Upon graduating from
Marian High School, an all-girls Catholic School, I attended Fort Hays State
University. After a year, I decided to get my insurance license. In 1986, I
moved to Wichita, and attended the Wichita Area Vo-Tech School and worked at
Triplett, Woolf & Garretson Law Firm for eight years. During these years, I
always felt a void in my life. Finally, I took the plunge and went back to
school at WSU. I achieved my goal of becoming a teacher after graduating in May
of 1998. I previously taught 5th grade at Resurrection Catholic School.
I am married to Craig Schumacher, and we have four children. Jeremy who is
attending law school at St. Louis University; Chelsey who will be attending
Rockhurst University in the fall; Collin, a senior at KMC; and Jordan a 2nd
grader at Magdalen.
In my spare time I enjoy jogging, attending my kids’ sporting events, reading
and making quilts.
