STA will NOT be making copies of the report cards, so parents should print off the reports from Powerschool prior to conferences. Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 25. Powerschool will be turned off Wednesday of this week so teachers can post grades. Seventh graders will be going to Oklahoma City to the Federal Building Memorial. Middle School basketball starts the week of the 27th. St. Thomas strategic planning is underway. Demographic study is being taken into consideration (waiting lists at most east side Catholic schools). We will be looking at Catholicity of our school (50th anniversary of our school next fall). Group will also be focusing on stewardship of the school. We will be looking at buildings and grounds. Also want to look into our science labs. Education group will look at the “Play Like a Champion” program, and the laptop initiative. Special Needs: will be looking at multiple tiers of support programs, including an accelerated math program. Public relations will be the final focus group. We hope to develop an annual report for all parents. Also looking at the possibility of some endowments, and continuing to improve our website. We will now have nine Smart Boards installed in the school thanks to the monies raised by trash bag sales. Also, we hope to be wireless at the school by the end of next week. Presidents Report: Krista has received all of the teacher grant proposals. Preschool has requested some DVD players. K-1 requested some “math manipulatives.” Second grade requested headphones for books on tapes and money for AR books. Fifth grade science requested a worm composting project and a flower model. There is still some money left over, so Krista will be watching for additional grant proposals. A summary will be e-mailed to the board for approval. SCRIP money from last year will be presented to the school. Kim Scanlon has the check in her office. Vice-Presidents Report: No report Treasurers Report: Dawn’s computer has crashed, so she is unable to print out a new report. We will be getting money from trash bags, and a large check was written for supply packs. Committee Reports: 1. 1. AR rewards: This Friday is the first AR event. Brittney is trying to get everything donated this year (besides ice cream). The dates for AR rewards are October 17, December 17, March 13 (changed from March 6), and May 15. 2. Art Enrichment: No report. 3. Boxtops: Almost all of the classes have been counted. Hope to have a popcorn party at the beginning of next month. 4. They are available in the office or through Adrienne or Shelby. Adrienne will add it to the Power School announcements. Adrienne has a grant list from the teachers – this is different from the overall grant list. The amount per classroom is based on the average rolls sold per classroom. The one-day pickup went really well; it was much easier than in past years. We should bring in around $35,000 from the trash bag sales this year. The check will be presented at the office. 5.
